Lumbarda turned out to be an excellent place for a relaxing holiday, the place is not very big but very nice, among other Lumbarda has a very nice sand beach situated almost at the peak of the island. Lumbarda sandy beaches are one of the most beautiful on the island of Korcula. Korcula is one of the most beautiful islands of Croatia. The town of Korcula is often reffered as little Dubrovnik, because of its beauty and buildings. The island of Korcula is also famous for its sandy beaches. Two the most beautiful Lumbarda sendy beaches, Bilin Zal and Przina, are located near the seaside town of Lumbarda, 6 kilometers east of Korcula town. Przina is a longer beach and in the summer it gets early filled with tourists and locals. Small restaurant is offering cold drinks and snacks. If you're looking for some skinny dipping, just follow the road straight ahead after sandy beaches and turn left when you get to the pine forest- Soon you will reach a nudist area. Near the beach several bars are offering refreshment and food. If you're looking for some quiet and relaxing time on the beach, the bad news is that this beach is usually overcrowded with families with small children. For a beach holiday on Korcula Island, Lumbarda is the place to go. This little village just six km east of Korcula town is on a tranquil bay with two sandy beaches just outside town. The largest sandy beach is Przina, 1 km southeast of the village. Nearby is pretty Bilin Zal. Both beaches are calm and shallow--great for kids!

Area activities

Lumbarda is the grape-growing centre of Korcula largely because of the reddish soil that is perfectly adapted to wine production. Inland, are acres of vineyards that produce Grk, the excellent local white wine. This fertile pocket of land has been settled for ages. Ancient Greek artifacts have been found in and around Lumbarda and the region is still being excavated. Researchers have also found evidence that the Illyrian tribes had also colonised the region. The low-key allure of Lumbarda attracted prosperous shipbuilders as early as the 16th century who built summer houses called "kastels" around the village. In addition to a long tradition of welcoming visitors, the locals are committed to cultivating grapes, olives and figs. Korcula Island is one of the most delightful in southern Dalmatia. Nearly 47km long and 8km wide, it's blanketed with dense woods and fringed with indented coves. The interior is lush and hilly, rich with vineyards, olive groves and peaceful villages. The jewel of the island is undoubtedly Korcula Town, a cluster of remarkable Venetian architecture on a narrow peninsula. Its heritage is celebrated each week with the colourful Moreska Sword Dance. From Korcula, it's easy to day trip to lovely Badija Island.
